?Windows in Time? Lecture Explores Early Southern Oregon Conflicts

Jackson County Library Services is proud to announce ?Southern Oregon at War: 1840-1856,? the next topic in the ?Windows in Time? history series offered in partnership with the Southern Oregon Historical Society. Lectures are at noon on Wednesday, November 3, at the Medford Branch Library, 205 South Central Avenue, and on Wednesday, November 10, at the Ashland Branch Library, 410 Siskiyou Boulevard. 
 
{1}Using original sources, military historian Joseph Jones will present Southern Oregon events from the diverse perspectives of Native Americans, settlers, miners, traders, and the military. Mr. Jones is a decorated U.S. Army veteran with a long-time interest in the Civil War and the American Far West.
 
The free ?Windows in Time? lecture series will continue monthly on the first and second Wednesdays throughout the year. The last program for 2010 is ?The West Coast/Crescent City Tsunami,? by Dennis Powers, to be presented in December. At that time, the lectures for 2011 will be announced.
