Next Windows in Time Series Talk: The West Coast/Crescent City Tsunami

{2}Jackson County Library Services is proud to announce ?The West Coast/Crescent City Tsunami,? the next topic in the ?Windows in Time? history series offered in partnership with the Southern Oregon Historical Society. Lectures are at noon on Wednesday, December 1, at the Medford Branch Library, 205 South Central Avenue, and Wednesday, December 8, at the Ashland Branch Library, 410 Siskiyou Boulevard. 
 
{1}The Great Alaskan Earthquake of March 28, 1964, generated a tsunami that affected the entire west coast of North America. Crescent City was one of the hardest hit areas, with waves reaching between 7 ? 21 feet, eleven dead, and over $7 million in damages. Presenter Dennis Powers is the author of ten published nonfiction books, many on maritime subjects, including The Raging Sea about the 1964 West Coast tsunami.
 
The free ?Windows in Time? lecture series will continue monthly on the first and second Wednesdays throughout the year. The 2011 series will be announced on December 1 at the Medford Branch Library.
