Jeff Golden Lecture at the Medford Branch Library

Come join the conversation ?What Never Was and Never Will Be: Can Our Media Serve Our Democracy?? on Wednesday, April 20, from 12 noon ? 1 p.m., at the Medford Branch Library, 205 South Central Avenue.
 
Guest speaker Jeff Golden asks us to consider the following: What are the primary failings of contemporary mass media news? What is our responsibility and what are our opportunities to improve prevailing conditions? Do our viewpoints have enough common ground to point to possibilities for effective activism? How do we focus our time and energies?
 
Mr. Golden, well-known as a radio talk show host, commentator, public broadcasting producer, columnist, and author, was Oregon?s first nominee for the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award. 
 
The Friends of the Medford Library are pleased to host Mr. Golden?s presentation which is part of The Conversation Project: A New Chautauqua. The Conversation Project is a statewide Oregon Humanities program offering free programs which engage community members in thoughtful, challenging conversations about ideas critical to our daily lives and our state?s future. Conversations are facilitated by some of Oregon?s most respected humanities scholars.
