Free Travel Writing Workshop

From Ernest Hemingway in Spain to Paul Theroux in China, great writers excel at painting vivid portraits of the places they take us. Join writer and traveler Midge Raymond as she takes you on a journey into reading and writing about place on Monday, April 18, from 7:00 ? 8:30 p.m., at the Ashland Branch Library, 410 Siskiyou Boulevard.

Hear excerpts from Ms. Raymond?s collection of short fiction, Forgetting English, as well as other travel works, from fiction to memoir to narrative journalism. Learn essential tips on how to turn your own adventures into compelling stories. Don?t forget to bring a pen and paper for in-class writing.

Winner of the Spokane Prize for Short Fiction, Ms. Raymond?s stories have appeared in TriQuarterly, American Literary Review, North American Review, the Los Angeles Times magazine, and many other publications. Her work has been nominated for three Pushcart Prizes and she has received an Artist Trust/Washington State Arts Commission Fellowship. She taught communication writing at Boston University for six years and creative writing at Boston?s Grub Street Writers and Seattle?s Richard Hugo House.
