'Die Hard 5' To Be Directed By Noam Murro

Movement on "Die Hard 5" has just gotten another shot in the arm with news that commercial director Noam Murro will helm the popular series' fourth follow-up, according to Deadline. The announcement comes less than a day after it was revealed star Bruce Willis was personally vetting potential candidates.
The Israeli-born Murro, who counts the 2008 indie flick "Smart People" as his only feature credit, has been nominated five times by the Directors' Guild of America for his commercial work, and reportedly impressed Fox execs with his recent ads for the video game "Halo."
Although not yet officially signed on, Willis has been enthusiastically talking up the possibility of returning as the perpetually beleaguered, often hungover, sometimes foulmouthed John McClane since "Live Free or Die Hard" opened in 2007. After going from trapped in a building to trapped in an airport in the first two "Die Hard" installments, Willis told MTV News he's eager to continue the recent trend of expanding the series' canvas.
"Well it's got to go worldwide," Willis said. "That would be my contribution to [the next movie]."
Tentatively titled "Die Hard 24/7," the sequel was written by Skip Woods, who previously penned big budget actioners "The A-Team" and "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." According to a statement Willis made in October, the flick is expected to begin filming sometime in 2011.
Although Willis has starred in four "Die Hard" flicks, the Hollywood vet has said that bringing the laughs is much more important than lighting up the big screen.
"But I like so much more making fun of it, taking the piss out of it and not making it a big deal. Not making the fact that I've acted in a lot of movies a big deal," he said. " It's all illusion and it's all bulls--t and it's a great job for me to have, but everything else you can set on fire. Making people laugh is the real deal."

Argentina and US row over cargo

President Obama's regional tour will skip Argentina Argentina has accused the US of trying to smuggle weapons and satellite phones into the country after cargo on a US military plane was seized last week. Argentine officials say the material was not properly declared. The US says the equipment was intended for a police training course in Argentina and has demanded its return. Bilateral ties have cooled since it emerged US President Barack Obama would not be visiting Argentina during a forthcoming tour of the region. Argentine Foreign Minister Hector Timerman on Monday sent a formal protest to the US embassy, demanding a proper explanation about the seized cargo. "The United States must understand that they can't send war materials without informing the government. And now they refuse to co-operate with the investigation," Mr Timerman told CNN. The Argentine government said that the material seized at Ezeiza International Airport last Thursday included weapons, satellite communications equipment and medicine such as morphine.But US state department spokesman PJ Crowley said they were "puzzled and disturbed" by the actions of Argentine officials, who had conducted an "unusual and unannounced" search of the aircraft. Mr Crowley said he had heard that one serial number had not been documented properly, an issue that could have easily been resolved. "For whatever reason, it was elevated to higher levels of the government and we find this puzzling," he said. He said the US was calling for its equipment to be returned. The training course which involved US military experts and Argentine federal police and focussed on hostage rescue techniques had been cancelled, he added. President Obama is set to visit El Salvador, Brazil and Chile during a visit to Latin America next month. Reacting to the news that Argentina was not on the itinerary, Mr Timerman said that the US had "more interests than friends". He said bilateral ties were excellent in some spheres, while there were differences in others. Nasa spacecraft sweeps past comet

A 370kg projectile was shot into the surface of Comet Tempel 1 in 2005 Related Stories Nasa's Stardust spacecraft is about to sweep past Comet Tempel 1. The encounter early on Tuesday (GMT) will give scientists unique information on how these great balls of ice and dust change over time. Tempel 1 was visited by another probe back in 2005. It fired a projectile at the body to disturb the surface. Stardust's images will reveal the extent of the impact crater and any other alterations that may have occurred on the 14km-wide object. The spacecraft is expected to get to within about 200km (120 miles) of the comet nucleus. It will take more than 70 high-resolution images; its dust analysis instruments will also investigate the environment around the object. The event is occurring at an enormous distance from Earth - approximately 336 million km (209 million miles) away. “One idea is that there were two proto-cometary bodies that collided at very low speeds and smooshed together to form a comet like a stack of pancakes”Pete Schultz Brown University Stardust will be moving past its target at about 10km/s, with the moment of closest approach timed for 0437 GMT. "The spacecraft is currently opposite the Sun from the Earth," explained Tim Larson, the mission's project manager at Nasa's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. "That means that when we send a command up to the spacecraft and wait for the confirmation that the command arrived and was executed properly - that round-trip light-time is about 40 minutes. So there's nothing we can do to command the spacecraft or control it real-time during a flyby like this. Therefore, everything has to be programmed ahead of time, put onboard the spacecraft and sequenced; and everything must happen autonomously." All the data acquired during the flyby will be stored on the spacecraft until an hour after the pass. Stardust will then re-orientate itself to begin to beam back the pictures and other information.The spacecraft is on what Nasa calls a "bonus mission". Stardust was launched back in 1999 with the primary goal of visiting another comet altogether - Wild 2. This it did in 2004, capturing dust particles from around the comet nucleus that it then returned to Earth in a capsule for study. But with sufficient fuel supplies still in its tanks, the probe was re-tasked by the US space agency to visit Tempel 1. The "new" element relates to the fact that Tempel 1 has already been seen up-close by the Deep Impact spacecraft. During that encounter in 2005, a washing-machine-sized block was fired at the comet to kick up surface material to study its composition. But Deep Impact's swift passage across the face of the comet meant it never got to see the crater made by the projectile. Stardust will. What is more, Stardust will be able to see what else has changed on Tempel 1 in the two trips it has since made around the Sun. The closer a comet gets to our star, the more material it loses as ices vaporise and dust particles are carried away into space. "Deep Impact saw only about a third of the surface and we'd like to see more," said Joe Veverka, the Stardust-NExT principal investigator from Cornell University "And we'd like to see more of the areas that Deep Impact saw, including the smooth flows which apparently suggest that comet nuclei are not only modified by processes from the outside but also by internal processes." Scientists observed a series layered terrains on Tempel 1. They hope the new data can help explain presence of these features and whether they have something to do with the comet's original construction. "One idea is that there were two proto-cometary bodies that collided at very low speeds and smooshed together to form a comet like a stack of pancakes," speculated Pete Schultz, a mission co-investigator from Brown University.This is the second comet rendezvous in just four months. In November, Deep Impact, itself also re-tasked by the agency, encountered Comet Hartley 2. In November last year, another Nasa spacecraft got a close-up view of Comet Hartley 2 To date, spacecraft have flown close by seven comets - Tempel 1, Hartley 2, Borrelly, Wild 2, Halley, Giacobini-Zinner, and Grigg-Skjellerup (the missions to Giacobini-Zinner and Grigg-Skjellerup did not return pictures). "Comets preserve some of the most faithful information about what happened when the Solar System formed," explained Professor Veverka. "We know that comets preserve interesting molecules, some of which could have been involved in the origin of life on Earth. So, the overall objective of these studies is to get to the point where we can return sizeable samples of cometary material for chemical analysis to answer the question, 'are we comet stuff or not?' "Stardust will not be returning samples but by imaging the crater, we will learn more about the mechanical properties of the surface so that when there is a mission that tries to land on the surface, there'll be data on how difficult it will be to remove material from the surface to bring back to Earth." Saving energy, time and money at Commerz Real

I recently took a trip to Germany to shoot a video for one of our customers, Commerz Real, a retail asset manager, so I was expecting to hear a lot about two staples of the sector: regulations and data. We’ve seen lots of press about financial services regulations over the last couple of years, but it was interesting to see what it meant in real terms for an organisation that needs to work effectively within them.
Martin Mittler, one of the company’s directors, told me how Commerz Real was the result of a merger. Following the deal, Martin realised that the direct attached storage they had in place wouldn’t let the organisation share data between two sites. It was something he and systems administrator Carsten Boenke explored when they ran a workshop with Dell consultants.
It was great to hear how they’d overcome this challenge with a virtualized infrastructure based on VMware software and Dell servers and Dell EqualLogic storage. The company got a rock-solid data infrastructure that provides investors with critical information and helps the firm comply with data regulations. On top of this, Carsten and the IT team got an infrastructure that was much easier to manage. The team consolidated servers, simplified systems management and boosted green efficiency. However, both Martin and Carsten stressed that the real success lies in giving the company’s asset managers the data they need to do what they do best: make great investments.

More than 1,200 Jewish, Serb and Roma civilians were murdered in the wartime raid, led by Hungarian forces. Mr Kepiro is top of a list of most wanted Nazis compiled by the Simon Wiesenthal Center. He said he was "nowhere near the executions" and was "the only one who objected to the orders". Hundreds of families were rounded up by the Hungarians, allies of Germany, in January 1942 on the banks of the Danube River in Novi Sad and then shot. A survivor of the killings, Lea Ljubibratic, said people were "thrown into the river under the ice. They would take people from their houses and shoot them in the street." Sandor Kepiro was convicted of involvement in the killings in Hungary in 1944 but was released by the fascist government and later fled to Argentina. He returned to Hungary in 1996 and was tracked down by the Simon Wiesenthal Center a decade later to a flat opposite a synagogue in Budapest.
