Michel Martelly has pledged a break with Haiti's violent past Related Stories Haitian pop star Michel Martelly is due to be sworn in as president of the poorest country in the Americas. It is not clear if they will attend. Former US President Bill Clinton is expected to be present. He is co-chair of Haiti Reconstruction Commission, which controls billions of dollars in aid pledged to rebuild earthquake damage.
